“Sri Lanka Eco feminist collective”, powered by iCommunity
Eco feminist collective aims to increase the commitment to the environment and create awareness of the associations made between women and nature. Specifically, this will emphasize the ways both nature and women are treated by patriarchal (or male-centered) society. However, this collective will ensure no extreme movements are undertaken and they will use a peace reconciliation as their tools to stand against climate and women’s justice. Members of this collective will be women leaders including public and private sector organizations as well as nonprofit organizations based in Sri Lanka or permitted to work in Sri Lanka.
During the year 2022, this collective will target forming of several district-level forums and conduct frequent dialogues on women’s rights and their potential contributions to a greener planet, while conducting advocacy campaigns around DSDs, through CSOs and youth groups and establishing a digital media space that speaks about gender justice and how women can work towards climate justice. While working on the above the collective will identify women who need gender justice, those who undergo DV, IPV, and other forms of violence in society and guide them to reach out to help and support them in overcoming such challenges and becoming economically independent and be aware of their rights.
